The Scene:
Busy adult circulation desk, 10:30am, Monday morning.
Me: Can I help you?
Them: (vacantly) I'm not so sure.
Me: O.K., um, well-is there anything specific you needed today?
Them: Nothing specific.
Me: (blood pressure rising since there are about 5 trillion things I need to be doing) Well, let me know if you need anything. (turning away)
Them: I'm looking for information on lobotomies.
Me: oh, um, I don't think we would have anything at this branch but I may be able to get something from another branch for you.
Them: No, like brochures. Information on insurance coverage. Length of procedure, that kind of thing.
Me: (pause) Try across the street at city hall.
